It’s time to break up.
In February 2021, the state of Texas suffered a major power crisis
after three severe winter storms swept across the country.
The storms caused the worst energy infrastructure failure in Texas state history, leaving more than 4.5 million homes and businesses without power, some for several days. A shortfall of available natural gas power generation was the crisis’ main culprit.
Our relationship with gas is toxic.
It controls how we cook our food, how we light our homes, and it’s buddies in government lie and blame renewable energy for its mistakes. Even a year after the Big Freeze, gas companies refuse to be held accountable for abandoning us when we needed them most.
